Surveillance

Here's a gouache on panel painting i did for illustration class. I had to make an editorial about surveillance in China. I went with a wolf in sheep's clothing theme. I left the tape on the edges because I liked the way the under painting showed threw.

A New Red Riding Hood

Another Red Riding Hood piece. I did this in Illustration class at MassArt. Pencil and Photoshop. I tried to modernize the story of Red Riding Hood while adding new fantasy elements.

The Amazing Spaceman Jack

This is a comic i did for the Massart Inprint graphic novel( Fearless: Malarkey anthology #2). The Anthology had a fear theme, so I decided to do a sci-fi twilight zone kinda story. Check it out. http://theamazingspacemanjack.blogspot.com/

Blue Yarn Perspective

This is a spread for a children's book I did in class for a potential client (Half Price Books). It didn't get picked. But I did have fun making the image. As a child a liked books with images that I could explore in and I tried to emulate that in this piece.

Play House

My Trompe l'oeil for Paul Olson's class! I built the structure from stuff i got at a thrift shop. It took about 3 to 4 weeks to finish. I think the hardest part for me was getting the shadows right.

Samurai Red Hood

This was done junior year in Paul Olson's painting for illustrators class at Massart. We had to do a fairy tale subject, so I thought it would be cool to do a rural Japan red riding hood.

Dream Kid

I like this one. It was done sophomore year for figure drawing class. We had to do an image with figures in space. When I was a kid I spent a lot of time reading fiction at the local library. I was trying to show my imagination coming to life. I wish I could do that.

I Didnt Do It

I did this sophomore year in figure drawing class at MassArt. The assignment was, to draw various hand poses. I figured I would draw a child getting pointed at by a bunch of grown ups because that's what it feels like when you're a kid. Its pastels and sharpie on red Canson paper.

Tea Pot and Apple

This is acrylic on watercolor paper. I was happy with it cuz I didn't have to wrestle with this like the rest of my paintings. I did it in 30min before class because i didn't care at the time but then it came out pretty good. It taught me to loosen up and not to over think things. Just paint.

Study

Let there be color! A little bit of color at least. I made this with those watercolor crayon things. O.K. I guess. I wish I took a better photo of this cuz my professor stole it on me.

Artifact

So this is a life size sculpture made of paper mache and sculptpy. Yup thats my face. I wanted the sculpture to look like a relic from Atlantis... or something like that.

Han and Chewie

Operation charcoal in full effect. I wanted to do something cooler than stills and studies. People say its smudgy or blurry but that's how I wanted it. Still black and white at this point.

The Studio

This was done in my charcoal faze. The study was of a messy studio at H.C.C. I was wicked happy with how it came out, but then my girlfriend at the time said it was creepy. Lame critique.

Breakfast

More black n white. When i did this pencil still life I had just discovered kneaded erasers. Changed my world.

Garbage (The Band)

Scratch board!!! I did this in high school when I thought scratch board was cool. I think its pretty dumb now. Its funny, I knew doing a scratch board face was gonna be hard so I picked a pose with hair covering the face.

Lost Children

The is an early piece, its pencil on bristol board. At the time I was doing mostly black and white cuz I sucked at color. I know its kinda creepy. At least I meant it to be creepy. Sucks when I make something not creepy and people tell me its creepy.
O.k.! I started this blog up a while ago but I forgot my password. I finally figured out that it wasn't my password that was the problem, it was my e-mail. So, I'm gonna start posting some old stuff first then get to the new stuff.
